Dog & Cat Translator Pro("the App", "we") is built and maintained by an independent developer. This Privacy Policy describes what data the App and this website (mydogtranslator.com) collect, why, and how it's handled.
What the App does not do
The App does not require an account, has no login, and does not collect your name, email address, or contact information. Anything you say into the App is used for its entertainment effect — turning your words into pet sounds — and is handled on your device as described below.
Data not linked to your identity
Apple's App Privacy label on the App Store listing is the authoritative summary of what the App collects, and this policy is kept consistent with it. The label declares the following data, which may be collected but is not linked to your identity:
- Purchases — if you subscribe or request a refund, Apple shares limited purchase activity with us (such as anonymous account identifiers and purchase or refund amounts) so we can manage subscriptions through the App Store.
- Identifiers — a device-level identifier used to keep the App working across sessions and to attribute installs and diagnostics. It is not tied to your name or account.
- Usage data — aggregate, anonymised information about how the App is used, via Apple's built-in App Store analytics.
- Diagnostics — crash logs and performance data, used only to fix bugs and improve stability.
Data used to track you
The App Privacy label also declares that one category of data may be used to track you, in Apple's sense of the word — that is, linked with third-party data for advertising or measurement:
- Identifiers — a device or advertising identifier that may be used to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies.
iOS controls this through App Tracking Transparency: where tracking applies, the system asks for your permission first, and you can review or change it any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. If you do not grant permission, this identifier is not used to track you.
Microphone & recordings
To turn what you say into barks and meows, the App needs microphone access so it can capture your voice. iOS asks for your permission first, and you can change it any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone. Recordings are used for the entertainment effect and are not uploaded to us or sold. If the App later offers optional syncing or sharing, that is under your control and described in-app.
Photos you add
If you choose to add a photo in the App, it stays on your device unless you explicitly choose to share it. The App only accesses photos you pick yourself.
This website
You can read this website and use its tools without an account, and nothing you type into the tools is sent to us. When you visit, the following is collected:
- Web analytics — we use Google Analytics 4 and Ahrefs Web Analytics to count page views and see which pages and tools people use. Google Analytics uses cookies only where you allow it (see below); Ahrefs Web Analytics does not use cookies. We do not use this data for advertising, and we do not sell it.
- Our own visit counter (first party) — when a page opens and when you tap an App Store or Google Play button, your browser sends a single word ("visit", "page view", "App Store" or "Google Play") to our own server, which adds one to a daily total. Nothing else is recorded: no IP address, no browser user agent, no page address, no identifier. It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser, so it runs without a consent banner — but not when your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control.
- Server logs — our hosting provider, Vercel, records request metadata (IP address, browser user agent, time) for security and performance.
- Blog images — article images are served from Sanity's content delivery network, which receives your IP address like any web server.
Cookies and local storage
Reading this website does not require any cookie. The only cookies it can set are Google Analytics cookies, which measure how the site is used:

- EEA, UK, and Switzerland — these cookies are off until you press "Accept" in the cookie banner. Until then, Google Analytics runs in Consent Mode and receives page views without cookies or any identifier stored on your device.
- Other regions — Google Analytics sets these cookies by default. You can turn them off at any time with the cookie settings button below.
- Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control — if your browser sends either signal, we load no analytics at all (not Google Analytics, not Ahrefs Web Analytics, not our own visit counter) and show no banner.
- Advertising — we set no advertising cookies, and Google's advertising signals are always switched off on this site.
We also keep a few items in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device and are not cookies:
mdt_consent_v1— your cookie choice, so we don't ask again. Declining also deletes Google Analytics cookies that were already set.dog-age-calculator:v1anddog-whistle-generator:v1— your settings in the dog age calculator and dog whistle tools (such as your dog's name), saved only when you use them and removable with each tool's "Clear saved" button.
Service providers
Website data is processed on our behalf by:
- Vercel — hosting and server logs
- Google — Google Analytics 4 (web analytics)
- Ahrefs — Ahrefs Web Analytics (cookieless web analytics)
- Sanity — blog content and images
These providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States, under their standard data protection terms.
Legal basis and retention
For visitors in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, Google Analytics cookies are set only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time with the cookie settings button. Hosting, security logs, and cookieless page counts rely on our legitimate interest in running and improving the site.
- Google Analytics event data: kept for up to 14 months, then deleted. Aggregated reports that identify no one may be kept longer.
- Server logs: per Vercel's standard retention.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, object to its processing, or withdraw consent. Email us at the address below. If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children's privacy
The App and this website are not directed at children and do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and post the revised version at this same URL.
