Questions before you install
Does Smart TV Remote work with my TCL or Roku TV?
Yes. Smart TV Remote controls Wi-Fi–connected TCL and Roku TVs, along with other popular smart-TV brands. Your phone and the TV just need to be on the same Wi-Fi network. Check the App Store listing for the current list of supported models.
Do I need the phone and TV on the same Wi-Fi?
For network control, yes — the app discovers your TV over your home Wi-Fi, so both devices should be on the same network. Once paired, control is instant.
Do I need an IR blaster or any extra hardware?
No extra hardware for supported Wi-Fi TVs. Smart TV Remote talks to the TV over the network, so nothing plugs into your phone. Older TVs that only accept infrared are not supported.
Can I type with my iPhone keyboard instead of the on-screen one?
Yes. When a text field is open on the TV, you type on your iPhone keyboard and the text appears on screen — much faster than pecking letters with the arrow keys.
Is Smart TV Remote free?
The core remote — power, volume, navigation and app launching — is free to download and use. An optional subscription unlocks the extra conveniences described in the pricing section. Final prices are shown in the app before you subscribe.
The app can't find my TV. What should I do?
Make sure the TV is powered on and connected to the same Wi-Fi as your phone, then reopen the app to re-scan. If it still doesn't appear, restart your router and confirm the TV's network control setting is enabled in its settings menu.
